Jones from Streamline Catamarans PTY LTD in Hervey Bay
Australia commissioned a custom design 7m production
power catamaran by Noah Thompson. The fist vessel was
designed using DuFLEX pre laminated panels, and built as
a kitset.
The
design was 3d modeled in Autoship and flattened into
developed panels and nested onto the DuFLEX panels and
then CNC cut. The parts for the kitset were flat packed
and shipped to Streamline Catamarans from ATL
composites.
Wayne
asked to have a light weight, economical but large
volume 7m production design. The design featured a large
forward cabin with separate bunks, An enclosed lockable
toilet compartment built into the dash. A galley
facility, ice box, fish holds, and plenty of stowage
compartments. The power cat also is towed behind a mid
size car, or light 4x4. The boat is powered by a set of
twin 90 hp outboards, giving a top speed of 35 knots
under load. With twin tanks, total fuel of 400 L , the
cat has a decent range with the little fuel consumption
of the twin 90s.
The first
owner of the Streamline 7000, has been seen in the back
creeks of Hervey Bay, camping for extended weeks at a
time. The cat hulls have been tested in rough choppy
water, to large rollers with great praise from the owner
and all crew. The stability and performance of the hulls
offers a comfortable and secure ride to passenger who
may not have had much time on the water. Everyone who
has had a ride on her, has commented about the ease of
ride, and comfort.
From
then, Streamline Catamarans have commissioned a 2008
model to put into production using traditional moulds
but with new techniques for infusing the core into the
hulls. The new method will give a superior light weight gel coated
fiberglass hull. The new model design features all the
best from the first model but with more rounded soft
flowing lines.
The new
range of Streamline 7000s are now available for 2008.
